* To promote national awareness of the accomplishments of concerned, caring teachers in behalf of their students.
* To provide a network of support for teachers nationwide who have demonstrated prolonged effort with inadequate professional rewards. * To circulate information about teacher resources and conferences that empower the teaching profession and provide professional and emotional support for teacher burn-out. * To promote fellowship among all concerned and caring teachers and to provide a forum for the identification of and solution for problems and issues surrounding the field of education. * To provide a global connection for teachers in other nations around the world who face issues concerning education, the environment, poverty, oppression, political unrest, retaliation and harrassment, discrimination, and threats to academic freedom. * To promote the inter-relationship between the Arts and Education. * To promote student and teacher recognition through an annual essay and art contest and to provide scholarships and teacherships for advanced education, and to assist teachers and college students who want to obtain certification, including National Board certification (NBPTS) . * To promote educational opportunities for all students, including new English learners and students with special academic, emotional, and physical needs. * To encourage and provide hope to new and veteran teachers, especially in light of the national teacher shortage and the new emphasis on test scores rather than the actual learning process. * To increase the number of bilingual, multicultural, and caring teachers in our public schools across America. |
